How End-to-End Encryption Actually Works

Clicked Emotions uses real end-to-end encryption. Here's what that means:

Your password creates a key. When you sign up, your password goes through 310,000 rounds of PBKDF2-SHA256 to create an encryption key. This happens on your device, not our servers.

Your entries are encrypted before leaving your device. When you write or transcribe an entry, it's encrypted using AES-256-GCM — military-grade encryption — before it ever touches our servers.

We store encrypted data we can't read. What we see: a3f9kX92mQr7Yw5pL2nB8vTz4jRs6HqW1dV... What you wrote: your actual thoughts. We have the first. We can never get to the second.

The AI processes once and discards. When you run an Insight Journey, the AI reads your decrypted entries in memory, generates the analysis, and then the plaintext is gone. Nothing is stored. Nothing is retained.

End-to-end encryption has a cost: if you lose your password AND your recovery phrase, your entries are gone forever. We can't recover them because we can't read them.

This is the tradeoff of genuine privacy. It's also the proof that the encryption is real. If a company can reset your password and give you back your data, they can read your data.

The AI processes your text once during analysis, then the text is discarded. Your entries are encrypted on your device before storage. We never see or store your plaintext content. The analysis happens, then the raw text is gone.
